Storyboxes: 3-D Collage on Glass with Donna Eigen
Saturday & Sunday, October 29 & 30: 9 am-3 pm
This unique twist on shadowboxes applies the skills used in decoupage on glass to create a layered 3-D collage that tells a story. The instructor will introduce decoupage on glass as well as collage as an art form and present examples. To build a storybox, students will select a theme, identify and prepare images and then decoupage the images onto glass panels to form three separate collages. Finally, the collage panels are stacked to create a composite picture with great visual depth. Students will also make wooden box frames to protect and display their Storybox. Students should bring a small detail scissors, X-acto knife, 2 oz. gloss acrylic paint (black or color of choice, for shadow box frame), removable glue dots or painter’s tape. There is a separate $25 material kit fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class. In addition to the shadowbox kit, the instructor will provide source materials but students are welcome to bring their own photos, magazines, decorative paper, image sources and ephemera to personalize their story.
