Silk Scarf Marbling Workshop with Vesile Yilmaz

Saturday, October 15:  11 am-3 pm

Come explore Ebru, the ancient art of Turkish water marbling! Ebru can be described as the therapeutic art form of painting on water. Patterns are made by dispersing rich pigments upon the surface of a thickened liquid. The feast for the eye starts when the droplets expand in mesmerizing circular shapes. During this course, students learn how to create a unique piece of wearable art.  Each participant will marble a 100% silk scarf (17x72”). Extra scarves to marble will be available to purchase at the time of the workshop. Participants will also be offered shared small trays to test their choice of color palette and experiment with paper marbling while the big silk scarf tray is in use. No previous experience is required; all skill levels are welcome. All tools and supplies for one scarf are included in the cost of the workshop. If you choose to marble additional scarves, cost is $40 each.
