Creating Dramatic Watercolors with Movement & Texture with Alice Struck

Saturdays, September 7, October  5, 26, November  9, 23, December 7:  9-11:30 am

This class series will present the relationships between drama and literal representation of your subject. Ways to introduce movement and the use of texture to create a non-contrived painting will be demonstrated. Subjects to be presented and demonstrated are natural environments, the passing of the seasons, urban scenes, including concept of linear and atmospheric perspective and local iconic landscapes. Selecting, organizing subjects, following through progressive steps in a watercolor painting from wet-in-wet underpainting through defining forms and final details will be demonstrated. Classes will follow the popular format of group viewing of in-progress paintings, presentation and demonstration of the day’s subject and paint along try-outs. Please bring all your supplies to each class. Beginners or those students who would like a personal introduction to materials or questions may call the Cedarburg Cultural Center to arrange a meeting beforehand.
