Youth Plein Air Contest
Thursday, June 11 - Tuesday, June 23Ages 17 and under
Calling all Kids and Teens! Get out into the sunshine with your paints, pencils, crayons or pastels to create art alongside hundreds of Plein Air artists from all over the country. The Youth Plein Air Contest invites artists age 17 and under to join in the excitement of painting en plein air (French for “painting in the open air”). Awards will be presented in each age category as well as a “People’s Choice” award!
Entry fee is $13 per child OR Free Entry is included with your participation in the Color Your World Art Camp (make selection at checkout).
Awards will be presented in each age category: 5 & under, ages 6-8, ages 9-12 and ages 13-17. There will be a “People’s Choice” award voted on by the many visitors expected to view the artwork over this year’s Strawberry Festival weekend.
Artwork will be on exhibit at CCC starting Friday, June 26 through Saturday, July 11. Stop in and vote for People’s Choice beginning June 26 throughout Strawberry Fest weekend on June 27/28!
Artists and families should save the date for the awards ceremony at the CCC on Tuesday, June 30 or Wednesday, July 2 at 5:30 pm (Date TBD).
RULES
***Before beginning your artwork, each blank canvas or paper must be stamped at the CCC registration table or front desk beginning Thursday, June 11 through Tuesday, June 23 at 2 pm during business hours of Tuesday-Saturday: 10 am-5 pm and Sunday: 12-4 pm.
Please note these special instructions: Finished works on canvas or paper must be unframed and be a completed size of 8x10 or 11x14. Paper/canvases may be purchased at the Cedarburg Cultural Center or artists may use their own. Each artist may complete an unlimited number of pieces, but only one entry per artist may be entered in the contest. Unstamped artwork will not be accepted. Art created during the Color Your World Art Camp may not be entered in the competition. Artists may work anywhere in Ozaukee County, but it must be outdoors.
DEADLINE FOR DROPPING OFF ARTWORK: Tuesday, June 23 at 2 pm. Return stamped, unframed artwork AND completed Artwork Labels.
ART PICK-UP: Sunday, July 12: 12-4 pm unless arranged for another time.
