Study of Values Workshop: Angels Among Us with Mary Pesch
Thursday, May 7: 6-9 pm
Working in the negative, we will focus on values and shading to create powerful art in colored pencil using specific techniques. Starting with black paper, students will draw a beautiful angel using only a white Prismacolor pencil and an eraser. The class will be instructed on the "negative" or "reverse" drawing technique, where the highlighted areas are drawn with a white pencil and the shadow is represented by black paper. Erasure will be used as a technique to achieve the middle range values, creating further interest and depth. Students should bring a white Verithin by Prismacolor pencil, a white Prismacolor pencil and a Tombow Mono Zero Refillable Round Eraser; all other supplies and reference image are included.
