Watercolors: Sartorial Splendors with Victoria Berdichevsky
Saturday, March 7: 9:30 am-4 pm
This workshop is designed to guide intermediate students in creating unique, carefully crafted, and elaborately detailed artworks. Using watercolors and gouache on watercolor paper, students will produce pieces that reflect the sartorial splendors of various historical periods and cultures. A variety of artistic techniques—including composition, proportion, color theory, and more—will be introduced, demonstrated, and discussed throughout the course. Victoria Berdichevsky Supply List
*Watercolor paper-Recommended brands: Arches, Fabriano Artistico, Canson Heritage
*Drawing Materials-Graphite pencils (HB and 2B recommended) and Pencil sharper
*Watercolor paints-Suggested brands: Winsor & Newton, Watercolor, Cotman Watercolor
A basic palette should include: Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna, Lemon Yellow
*Gouache-Professional white gouache-Recommended: Winsor & Newton Designer’s Gouache Permanent white, Holbein Gouache, or Schmincke Horadam Gouache
*Brushes-Medium and fine watercolor brushes, natural or high-quality synthetic
Recommended brands: Da Vinci Maestro, Escoda Reserva, Raphael Kolinsky, or high-end synthetics like Princeton Neptune or Da Vinci Casaneo
Suggested sizes: round #2, #4, #8
*Water container
*Paper towels or cotton cloth
*Mixing palette or scrap paper for testing colors
