The Artist’s Way:  An Abbreviatged Course in Discovering & Recovering Your Authentic & Creative Self

Mondays, Feb 9, 16, 23, Mar 2, 9, 16:  6:30-8:30 pm

(March 30 will be a snow date)

This 6-week course has been designed to take participants on a brief journey of discovering and recovering their creative self. It is intended for everyone, from working creatives to untapped creatives to people just looking to make a meaningful shift in their lives (not just for artists). It is a self-reflective program that maintains space and time for participants to intentionally explore aspects of themselves through creative processes alongside one another. Each week participants are introduced to focused themes and guided in a creative experiential activity to explore and process the themes, while learning specific art techniques, including drawing and watercolor. Themes include:  safety, identity, personal power, integrity, possibility, abundance, connection, strength, compassion, self-protection, autonomy, faith. This course is directly inspired by and adapted from The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, an experiential book intended to teach people to process life through acts of creativity. The course is led by Julie Ashlock and Alice Struck, both are experienced in the Artist’s Way and in understanding the transformational nature of art; however this course should not be seen as therapy or a substitute for it.
