Westside Story: Artist Talk with Chris Behrs 8/12
Westside Story: Artist Talk with Chris Behrs
Wednesday, August 12: 6-7:30 pm
Join us on the East Terrace and treat yourself to a cold beverage and a captivating story told by Behrs. This plein air artist grew up west of downtown Milwaukee and began drawing at a very young age, inspired by two of his older brothers who both liked to draw. He got his feet wet 20 years ago at the first Cedarburg Plein Air event and credits the challenge of plein air painting as positively and significantly driving his development as an artist. He identifies with and quotes artist Karen Margulis, “When you are plein air painting, lighting and weather conditions are out of your control. It forces you to work quickly, to develop an eye for what the important elements are and capture those in quick gestures.” Chris has a bachelor’s degree in oil painting from MIAD and an MS in art education from Concordia University. He teaches art and technical theater at Cedarburg High School, is the current president of Wisconsin Pastel Artists and a Cedarburg Artists Guild member. Don’t miss the rest of the story! Bar will be open for refreshments.
