Totum Fauna Sculptures with Maria Knier
Friday & Saturday, March 20 & 21: 1-3 pm
If you’ve shied away from sculpture, we challenge you to pull up a seat for this hands-on, two-part workshop. The rewards of sculpture are sometimes subtle, but often immediate. You’ll get back to nature, lose that feeling of heaviness, and maybe even breathe a little easier! Learn nature-based sculpting techniques by building an armature from paper and stone, then adding a stone clay overlay. Nature details such as branches, driftwood, shells can be added to the wet clay. Finally, we will personalize our creatures with eye details. Totum Fauna manifests as fantasy creatures or realistic animals. All supplies are included but students are encouraged to collect and bring elements from nature to incorporate into their sculpture, such as large river rocks, gemstones, and sticks. Recommended for ages 15 and up.
