Totum Fauna Sculptures 3/20

Totum Fauna Sculptures with Maria Knier

Friday & Saturday, March 20 & 21: 1-3 pm

If you’ve shied away from sculpture, we challenge you to pull up a seat for this hands-on, two-part workshop. The rewards of sculpture are sometimes subtle, but often immediate. You’ll get back to nature, escape your worries, lose that feeling of heaviness, and maybe even breathe a little easier! You will learn nature-based sculpting techniques by building an armature from paper and stone, then adding a stone clay overlay. Nature details such as branches, driftwood, shells can be added to the wet clay. Totum Fauna manifests as fantasy creatures but they can be realistic animals as well. We will add eye details and paint to personalize our creatures. All supplies are included but students are encouraged to collect and bring elements from nature to incorporate into their sculpture, such as large river rocks, gemstones, and sticks. Recommended for ages 15 and up.
