Sculpting Memory with Papier-Mâché with Geornica Daniels
Tuesday, August 19: 9 am-12 pm
In this fun and reflective workshop, we will use simple materials to create sculptural paper vessels that explore memory, meaning, and personal symbolism. Participants are invited to BYOB (Bring Your Own Bowl) to use as a mold for shaping their vessel (or borrow one from the instructor). We’ll begin with a quick demo and short discussion about how vessels can act as containers for memory, story, or emotion. Then we’ll jump into building our own using papier-mâché techniques. Whether you’re aiming for something raw and expressive or smooth and refined, there’s space to experiment. Finished pieces will need drying time and can be picked up after several days. Details will be shared in class. No experience necessary; just come ready to get a little messy and make something meaningful! Perfect for ages 14 and up. All materials will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a bowl (mixing bowl approx 9-14" diameter) to use as a mold.
