The Second Fireside Chat in the 2011-2012 Series and the 35th in the Series will be held on Sunday February 12th at 2:30 p.m. at the Cedarburg Cultural Center. The topic of the Chat will be‘ Remembering Our Cedarburg Heritage“. The Panel will consist of Six people who have been lifelong residents of Cedarburg whose families have long time ties to the Community . We will encourage the audience to add their own human-interest stories and to bring any mementos or pictures they might have so that all can share in this information. Former Cedarburg Mayor, Jim Coutts, will moderate the Chat. The Chats are sponsored by the Greater Cedarburg Foundation, Beyer’s True Value Hardware and the Cedarburg Cultural Center.
The Panel will consist of:
Sandy Downey- a lifelong resident of Cedarburg whose ancestors were members of the Wittenberg Family. She is a retired CHS Teacher
Bob Guse- Lifelong resident, former Alderman and Mayor whose father ran the Guse Drug Store, a long time fixture in downtown Cedarburg
Dan Hammetter- Lifelong resident of Cedarburg whose ancestors were early settlers of the Hamilton Area
Ken Krause-Lifelong resident of Cedarburg whose father was a long time employee of the original Mercury Marine.
Vivian Laabs-Lifelong resident of Cedarburg whose father was a conductor on the Interurban Line and she has great memories of Hilgen Springs Park.
Gus “ Sandy “ Wirth-Lifelong resident of Cedarburg whose ancestors founded the Wirth Department Store
.The Chat will last for approximately one hour and fifteen minutes and there will be time to swap stories and remembrances, etc. Coffee and cookies will be available and we hope many items will be brought to be put on display and to be shared.
The “ Hat” will be passed to help defray expenses.
The Series will continue with 2 “ Chats “ to be scheduled for the 2011-2012 Series. The
Next “ Chat” will be on March 18th and the topic will be “ Cedarburg Restored” and will look at the various Restoration projects that have take place in Cedarburg. The last “ Chat” in the Current Series will be on August 26 and the topic will be “ The Golden Bulldog Reunions”
